Digital Strategist

We are seeking a digital strategist to work with us on a new global public health advocacy effort that can potentially save millions of lives from death and disease. There is some flexibility in the position seniority, as we are a small, burgeoning firm. We’re excited about bringing in the right type of person and skill set who wants to grow with us.

Project Details

Location: Washington, D.C. preferred, New York an option as well for the right candidate

Compensation is based on ability of applicant:
$50k-60k for junior applicant (e.g. has experience as Senior Account Executive, Account Manager, Online Organizer, Social Strategist etc.)
$60-70k for mid-level applicant (e.g. has experience as Account Director, Senior Strategist)
$80-90K for senior level applicant (e.g. has experience as a VP, Head of Department)

Key Responsibilities

  • Digital Campaign Management
    • Provide ongoing strategic support for local organizations managing digital advocacy campaigns; including
      • Supporting development of strategic plans to mobilize grassroots and grasstops audiences to achieve policy outcomes
      • Assist in development of campaign creative concepts
      • Assist in monitoring of rapid response opportunities based on campaign developments
      • Develop support materials and tools for campaign management as needed (e.g. mapping social media influencers, petition engagement best practices)
    • Provide project management of in-country digital teams
      • Lead regular conference calls to discuss campaign progress, strategy and tactical review with relevant campaign stakeholders
      • Analyze campaign progress and provide metric reports for in-country campaign work
    • Coordinate with Washington D.C. based client staff
      • Participate in strategy meetings with policy staff, program team managers and communications staff to integrate digital campaigning into overall efforts 
      • Report back on campaign progress to stakeholders
  • Digital Training and Capacity Building
    • Conduct in-person and virtual training sessions to build capacity of organizations to run digital advocacy campaigns
    • Hold additional one-on-one technical assistance, grant support and online advertising support for targeted organizations;
    • Provide training tracking reports that follows progress of trainees throughout the training as well as key metrics of training participation and post-training performance.
  • Social Media Platform Strategy
    • Support global NGO client global social media platform via bi-weekly content ideation and execution
    • Develop ‘break-through’ initiatives (Twitter chat, content series etc.) to help client’s

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Political Science or relevant field
  • 5-7 years professional experience in managing digital advocacy campaigns, including social media management, email/CRM-based engagement,  mobile SMS-campaign, web-based engagement and/or online-to-offline activity
  • Strong understanding/experience of issue advocacy campaigning in political environments outside of the United States
  • Aptitude in use of interactive social media technology, tools, and applications for advocacy purposes
  • Experience supporting social media channel content programs
  • Experience working in a client-support setting
  • Strong understanding of monitoring and evaluation methods for social media campaigns
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially around digital campaign
  • Good understanding and knowledge of the global social media landscape, with particular emphasis on lower-middle income countries.

Creative Digital Designer, Part-time

We are seeking a part-time design consultant that can help us with immediate design needs on several projects, with likely opportunity for growth as our projects continue to expand in scope in the short-term and long-term. The consultant will support a number of digital campaigns working to create healthier communities all across the world. 

Project Details
Location: Negotiable. Washington, D.C. preferred but not required.
Time-Commitment: 30 hours/month, with the possibility that time-commitment will accelerate throughout the year and grow significantly starting in 2020.
Compensation: This position will be paid on an hourly basis consistent with the skill level of the consultant engaged, with a range of $25-40/hr

Key Responsibilities

This position will serve help envision and execute high impact creative design across digital media channels. The main responsibilities of this position will fall into the following buckets.

  • Graphic design for social media channels
    • Translate facts, figures and data into creative, compelling concepts for social media channels and audiences 
    • Develop high quality graphics, imagery and animated content that will perform well on Facebook, Twitter, and other channels.
    • Utilize stock imagery, video and other visual assets to develop content for social media channels
  • Front-end web design 
    • We are revamping a client website and are looking for this person to help us design website mock-ups that reflect our new strategy.
  • Development of capacity building/training materials
    • Capacity building is integral to our work. This designer will help design training decks and other materials to be used in our trainings.
  • Data visualization for social media dashboards.
    • We manage data analysis for large training cohorts and are looking for someone who can take our current data visualization and bring it to the next level of sophistication and design.
  • Development of marketing materials
    • As our firm continues to expand, there may be opportunities to create marketing materials.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
  • 5-7 years professional experience in managing design projects for digital channels
  • Strong understanding/experience in designing for nonprofit/advocacy clients. Extra points for someone with a background in public health projects or experience creating content for campaigns in LMIC.
  • Strong experience in designing for social media and other digital channels. Well-versed in best practices of designing for digital advertising campaigns.
  • Aptitude in data visualization using Excel, Google Data Studio, or other tools.
  • Experience designing templates on Canva to be easily edited and used by many different parties of varying design skill.
  • Experience working in a client-support setting.
  • Experience in UX/UI development a plus.
  • Proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.
